They eat in the dark!
Are there holes in your plants? Are entire leaves missing? Can't find the culprit? Go out after dark with a flashlight. Most caterpillars, slugs and snails feast when it is cooler, after the sun sets. Once you've found the culprit, then the proper countermeasure can be taken.

Heat relief in the garden
Circle K $.49 refills up to 64 oz. Save an empty half gal. milk jug and fill with ice tea! NO SODA!
Take a small towel dip under the garden hose throw over the back of your neck.
Do NOT drink water directly out of the garden hose; can be very deadly.
Take breaks sit in shade 10 minutes of every hour when heat is above 90.
Try to complete work before noon, start at sunrise!

We have new hours : Wednesday, Noon - 5pm and Saturday, 9am - 4pm. With just a phone call, you can set up an appointment if these times aren't convenient.
The next free EarthBox seminar will be on Saturday, September 12, from 10am until noon. There will be a planting demonstration as well as a question and answer time.
The next community event for us is at the Fourth of July celebration at Bullard Park (next to the Train Depot) in Lutz on Saturday, July 4, from 8am until 2pm. We will have EarthBoxes, Rain Barrels, plants, flags and many other items for sale. Stop by and say hello!
